This beautiful book is a collection of twenty-two essays drawn from a lifetime of observation and study by Myles Bakke, a one-of-a-kind naturalist and tracker. Every story is illustrated with Linda Rossi's full-color and black-and-white photography, drawings, and maps. Foreword by Chris Kratt, biologist, zoologist, and educational television host.
Longtime Northfield, MN residents, both Myles and Linda have deep roots in the landscape and communities of Carleton College and Rice County, Minnesota. An advancing artist grant awarded to Linda by the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council (SECMAC) helped make this publication possible, preserving Rice County's unique natural history through their combined words and art.
